May 26, 2010 Judy Spires President, Acme Markets

Judith Spires (Judy) is the President of ACME Markets, the Delaware Valley's leading supermarket chain.

Judy began her career with ACME as a cashier and has earned positions of increasing importance throughout her over 30-year tenure. Though the majority of her time has been spent at ACME, Judy took her talents west in early 2000, serving as President of the Rocky Mountain Division and then President of the Dallas/Fort Worth Division of ALBERTSONS. Today she leads more than 16,000 associates in 125 stores throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland and is committed to making ACME the best place to work and to shop.

Judy's dedication to customers, associates and the community has earned her both industry and local recognition. She was named "2008 Person of the Year" by the Mid-Atlantic Food Trades Organization and one of the Top 50 Women in Grocery by Progressive Grocer magazine. Judy also received the prestigious 2009 Paradigm Award from the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.

Judy actively represents ACME in the community, volunteering her time with many local organizations. In addition to serving on the Board of Trustees at La Salle University, she is a member of the executive boards of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce; United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania; and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Judy is also a member of the International Women's Forum, serves on the Advisory Council of Esperanza, and is a founding member of the Greater Philadelphia Network of Executive Women.

A strong supporter of continuing education, Judy recently earned her masters degree in business administration from LaSalle University. She is also a graduate of Cornell University's Food Executive Program.
